Climate: The year 2010 began with a very cold and snowy winter with a consequent delay in the start of the growing season. Spring and early summer have confirmed a rather cold and rainy with temperatures below seasonal averages, except for some brief warm periods.
In late July, the weather was again refreshed, but the good daily temperatures have favored a partial recovery of the delay accumulated by the plant.
The very low minimum temperatures in August (together with selective thinning) have allowed the grapes to maintain a good health status, despite the abundant rains of the period.
The harvest began on September 14 with Arneis and Dolcetto, Barbera with 20 and ended on October 16 with Bussia Barolo.
Vinification: The selected grapes were de-stemmed and crushed. Maceration lasted about 15 days at a maximum temperature of 30 ° C.
The malolactic fermentation was completed before the end of winter.
Aged for 24 months in oak barrels of 27, 55 and 77 Hl. The further bottle aging lasted for 12 months and took place in Prunotto cellars before shipping.
